Teacher Appreciation Week 2026 runs from May 4 to 9, with National Teacher Day landing on Tuesday, May 5, making this the perfect moment to recognize the educators who go above and beyond for their students.

Across the country, teachers are being celebrated with well-deserved praise, along with special deals and discounts from retailers looking to say "thank you."

And while a heartfelt card can mean the world, a thoughtful gift is another meaningful way to show your gratitude.

"My advice for parents is to look for something that speaks to the teacher's personality," said Romina Keper, a speech pathologist and founder of CharTEACHerie Gift Boards -- which makes charcuterie-inspired personalized gift boards for teachers -- speaking with "Good Morning America."

"This shows that you value the teacher as an individual, and they'll appreciate that you took the time to find a gift that's more unique and personal than a mug or a candle," she added.

Useful items are always appreciated, Keper said, especially ones that reflect what teachers actually use each day, like snacks, flair pens, hand sanitizer or even a well-timed dose of Advil. And don't underestimate the power of a handwritten note.

"To make a gift card extra meaningful, include a message from your child," Keper said. "A special card written from the heart will stay in a teacher's home forever."

Whether your child's teacher inspired creativity, offered extra support or simply made it through a tough school year with grace, send them into summer feeling appreciated.

"Teachers are our parenting partners and our children's biggest cheerleaders, but they cannot do it alone," Keper said. "Knowing they have your trust and support is perhaps the BEST gift they can receive."

Here are a few standout gift ideas to help you say thanks.
