— -- Question: What is the effectiveness of newer treatments like vagal nerve stimulation (VNS), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and deep brain stimulation (DBS) for bipolar disorder in children/adolescents?

Answer: Quite honest, I think it's fair to say that these haven't been really looked at in young people, children or adolescents very much at all. And all told that's probably not a bad thing. These are often times serious interventions, often times conceived as invasive interventions and really the fact that they've not been vigorously pursued in young people at this point, while they still remain not well-tested in adults is rational and reasonable.
