Death toll rises in Thailand school shooting
Police identified the suspect as a 14-year-old student, authorities said.
A 12-year-old girl hurt in a mass shooting at her Thailand school has died from her injuries, bringing the death toll from the attack to eight, officials said.
The suspect -- a 14-year-old student -- allegedly killed his grandparents, whom he lived with, before going to Debsirin Nonthaburi School on the outskirts of Bangkok on Friday, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said.
Five staff members were killed at the school, and 14 injured victims remain in the hospital, according to The Associated Press.
The gunman died by suicide following the shooting, according to Thai police. He could have harmed more people, the prime minister said, noting that he had more than 30 rounds of bullets when he died.
Charnvirakul called the shooting "premeditated" and said the alleged shooter "carried lots of pressure and tension."
The teenager allegedly used his grandfather's registered gun to carry out the attack, authorities said. He had posted a picture of the gun on his Instagram account following a festival, according to the prime minister.
