Trump says damage to Iran's nuclear sites is 'far below ground level'

President Donald Trump dismissed a suggestion by French President Emmanuel Macron that he left the G7 meeting in Canada early to work on a ceasefire between Israel and Iran.

In a post to Truth Social in the early hours of Tuesday, Trump said Macron was "publicity seeking" and "wrong."

"He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire," Trump wrote.

"Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!"

French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters at the G7 Summit that President Donald Trump indicated to fellow leaders that an offer for an Israel-Iran ceasefire has been made.

"There is an offer that has been made, especially to have a ceasefire and to initiate broader discussions. And I think this is a very good thing. So now we need to see what the stakeholders will do," Macron said.

"I think the announcements made by President Trump are very positive and the role that the United States of America will have to play is key," Macron said. "The French alongside them, the British and the Germans are available to resume serious discussions, discussions that we have never stopped," he added.

The French president's comments came after Trump abruptly left the summit, citing escalating tensions in the Middle East.

President Donald Trump has instructed his national security team to be ready in the Situation Room as he travels back to the White House on Monday evening, after cutting short his trip to the G7 summit, two sources told ABC News.

The White House said Trump was leaving the summit early citing the situation in the Middle East.

Posting on his social media platform, President Donald Trump is advising citizens of Tehran, a city with a population of 9.8 million people, to "immediately evacuate."

"Iran should have signed the 'deal' I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life," Trump posted.

"Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON," he posted. "I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!"

The warning comes as Iran and Israel continue to launch a new wave of missiles at each other and as Trump has publicly urged Iran to get back to the negotiation table and sign a nuclear deal.
