Trump administration updates: Schumer continues to face calls for new leadership

President Donald Trump was pressed further on deportation flights and reports that some individuals included were not members of Tren de Aragua or MS-13.

"Well, I was told that they went through a very strong vetting process and that, that will also be continuing in El Salvador. And if there's anything like that, we would certainly want to find out," Trump said. "But these were a bad group."

"We will continue that process, absolutely," Trump added. "We don't want to make that kind of a mistake."

Meanwhile, the Trump administration in court has declined to provide any additional information about the flights.

"Mr. President, do you think you have the authority, the power, to round up people, deport them and then you're under no obligation to a court to show the evidence against them?" ABC News White House Correspondent Karen Travers asked Trump.

"That's what the law says and that's what our country needs," Trump responded.

President Donald Trump continued to go after the federal judge who ordered to stop the deportations over this weekend.

ABC News' Karen Travers asked if Trump had the authority to round up people and deport them and was "under no obligation to a court to show evidence against them."

The president claimed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio had the power to curb illegal immigration.

"He's got the authority to get bad people out of our country," the president said of Rubio. "And you can't stop that with a judge sitting behind a bench that has no idea what goes on, who happens to be a radical left lunatic."

Judge James Boasberg, the judge overseeing the case, was appointed by President George W. Bush.

President Donald Trump was asked about the newly released files on the John F. Kennedy assassination by the Dept. of Justice and admitted there was "nothing earth-shattering" in the documents.

"You'll have to make that determination in those," he said.

"This is a big day. This is a big day for our warfighters, a big day for our country and a big day for the world," Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said after President Donald Trump announced a new fighter jet.

The F-47 fighter jet, Hegseth said, would give the United States generations of air dominance.

"It sends a very direct clear message to our allies that we're not going anywhere and to our enemies that we will be able to project power around the globe unimpeded for generations to come," he said.
