Trump 2nd term updates: Trump attends the Super Bowl

California Gov. Gavin Newsom will travel to Washington, D.C., to meet with Trump administration officials and members of Congress, his office said.

"The governor's trip is focused on securing critical disaster aid for the survivors of the Los Angeles fires and ensuring impacted families who lost their homes and livelihoods have the support they need to rebuild and recover," his office said in a statement.

Republicans Sen. Eric Schmitt and Rep. Michael Cloud introduced legislation Tuesday that aims to codify into federal law many of President Donald Trump's DEI-related executive orders.

"President Trump understands that these programs have absolutely no business in the federal government, and I am proud to introduce this critical legislation with Congressman Cloud that will save taxpayer dollars and put a stop to this DEI madness," the senator said.

This legislation, if considered, would require 60 votes in the Senate, which would mean at least seven Democrats would need to support it. It's unlikely it would have that kind of support.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order that would withdraw the United States from the UN Human Rights Council and UNRWA. It also orders a review of American involvement in UNESCO.

"I always felt the UN has always had tremendous potential but it's not living up to it's potential," he said.

Trump claims they needed to be fair to countries that "deserved fairness."

The C-17 carrying migrants to Guantanamo Bay took off from El Paso, Texas, at 2:33 p.m. ET, and is in the air, according to a U.S. Transportation Command (TRANSCOM) official.

Another C-17 carrying up to 80 migrants also gook off from El Paso at the same time and is en route to Guatemala, the official said.
