3 dead after helicopter crashes in Los Angeles near site of earlier fatal bus collision

At least three people are dead after a helicopter crashed between two commercial buildings in the Los Angeles area on Tuesday evening near the scene of an earlier fatal bus collision, according to the LA Fire Department.

In addition to the three people who died at the scene, one person was taken to the hospital in unknown condition, the fire department said.

Earlier, an LAFD spokesperson said one of the people killed was a pedestrian on the ground.

The fiery helicopter crash happened on Mason Avenue in Chatsworth, a suburban neighborhood, shortly before 7 p.m. local time.

The fire department said four vehicles and two storage containers were damaged by fire.

The cause of the crash is not known.

The National Transportation Safety Board and FAA will investigate.

The earlier bus crash happened happened about a block and half away, involving a Metro bus and an SUV. That crash left two people dead and several others injured, according to ABC Los Angeles station KABC.
