Trump, alongside NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, announced in the Oval Office on Monday that Washington, D.C., will be host to the 2027 NFL draft.

"I'm pleased to reveal that the 2027 NFL draft, that's a big thing, will be held right here in our nation's capital, Washington, D.C., on the National Mall," Trump said.

Trump also touted the Washington Commanders' stadium being built in Washington.

Goodell said he believed "well over a million people" will come to Washington for the 2027 draft.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, a Democrat, attended the announcement and thanked those who had worked hard for the draft to come to Washington.

William Marshall, the new director of the Bureau of Prisons, said Monday that the agency will "vigorously" pursue "all avenues to support and implement" President Trump's agenda -- including an assessment to determine "needs and the next steps," including the president's idea to reopen and expand the famed Alcatraz prison.

"USP Alcatraz has a rich history. We look forward to restoring this powerful symbol of law, order, and justice. We will be actively working with our law enforcement and other federal partners to reinstate this very important mission," Marshall said.

Trump appointed Marshall to lead the Bureau of Prisons late last month.

In a move to push the those in the country illegally to self deport, the Department of Homeland Security on Monday announced a travel assistance program to help those who want to leave the country voluntarily.

Those who are in the country illegally and want to self-deport must use the CBP Home App, return to their home country and then they'll receive a $1,000 stipend, according to a release from DHS.

“If you are here illegally, self-deportation is the best, safest and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest. DHS is now offering illegal aliens financial travel assistance and a stipend to return to their home country through the CBP Home App,” said Secretary Kristi Noem. “This is the safest option for our law enforcement, aliens and is a 70% savings for US taxpayers. Download the CBP Home App TODAY and self-deport.”

Self deporting has been something the Trump administration has been pushing, as opposed to having ICE arrest and deport migrants.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, in an appearance on CNN on Monday morning, said that President Trump's recent comments that children could "have two dolls instead of 30 dolls" as a result of tariffs on China and a trade war show that the president "doesn't care."

"It's so condescending," Hochul said. "Condescending on so many levels. But as a mom who has bought dolls for my little girl and my granddaughter, I mean, come on, the President of United States telling you that, oh, you don't need that. This is a millionaire, maybe a billionaire who really knows what his records show, but he has a lot more money than the average American."

Trump made the comments while answering questions at the end of his Cabinet meeting late last month, seeming to acknowledge the real impacts his trade war with China could have on Americans.

"It shows a disconnect with the people who voted him into office, many of them, that he doesn't care," Hochul said. "He doesn't care about the families… And I think they're starting to hear this and feel this, and they feel they've been betrayed. And that's a very overwhelming feeling across the state of New York."
