What is 'Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro'?
The ABC competition series, which premiered July 13, follows 12 aspiring ballroom dancers competing for the chance to join the professional cast of "Dancing with the Stars" season 35.
Hosted by Robert Irwin, the series takes place in Australia, where the contestants live and train together while taking on weekly dance challenges designed to test the skills needed to become a "DWTS" pro.
Along with permanent judges Shirley Ballas and Mark Ballas, a rotating lineup of guest judges mentors the contestants before helping decide who stays and who goes.
"The show did a really great job of setting up challenges for these dancers," Mark Ballas told ABC Audio ahead of the inaugural season premiere. "Whether it's choreographing, group work, chemistry, teaching challenges, these are the things that you face as a pro on 'Dancing with the Stars.'"
Who has been eliminated?
Episode 5, which aired Aug. 10, saw "Dancing with the Stars" pro Daniella Karagach join the show as a guest judge and mentor.
Karagach challenged the six remaining dancers to create contemporary routines featuring a memorable "wow" moment.
Selena Hamilton and Erik Linder partnered for the challenge, but their decision to use stillness as their "wow" moment sparked criticism from judges Shirley Ballas and Mark Ballas, who disagreed while critiquing the routine.
At the end of the night, Linder was eliminated, leaving five dancers still in the competition.
