Iran live updates: Trump says agreement with Iran could be signed as early as this weekend

Trump said the deal is "subject to finalization of documents."

President Donald Trump announced "major combat operations" against Iran on Feb. 28, with massive joint U.S.-Israeli strikes targeting military, government and infrastructure sites.

Following the announcement of a two-week ceasefire, initial U.S.-Iran talks in Pakistan in April failed to reach a peace deal.

Trump later announced the open-ended extension of the ceasefire and the continuation of a U.S. blockade until negotiations are concluded "one way or the other."

Iran state media says US missiles hit water tanks in Hormozgan

Iranian state television said Wednesday that U.S. missiles hit water tanks in Sirik, a county located in the Hormozgan Province on the coastline of the Strait of Hormuz.

The U.S. has not commented on the report, which ABC News could not immediately verify.

According to a local water company, the two tanks affected -- one with 500 cubic meter capacity and the other 2,000 cubic meter -- are vital water distribution infrastructure for the area.

Kuwait, Bahrain intercept Iranian attacks

The Bahrain Defence Force said in a post to social media on Wednesday that its air defenses intercepted an unspecified number of Iranian missiles and drones. Iran, the BDF said, "is continuing its systematic hostility."

Kuwait's Defense Ministry said in a statement posted to X on Wednesday that its defenses also intercepted "hostile aerial targets at dawn today."

Israel continues strikes on southern Lebanon, city of Tyre

The Israel Defense Forces said on Wednesday that it launched more strikes on the southern Lebanese city of Tyre, targeting what it claimed was "infrastructure" and weapons used by Hezbollah to attack Israeli forces operating in the south of the country.

The latest round of strikes targeted "Tyre and several areas in southern Lebanon," the IDF said in a post to X.

Also on Wednesday morning, IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued a new evacuation order for the south Lebanese towns of Houmin al-Fawqa and Ghassaniyeh, warning of imminent "decisive action" against alleged Hezbollah targets there.

Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon continue unabated despite a ceasefire agreed between Israeli and Lebanese leaders, which was rejected by Hezbollah.

Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health said on Tuesday that at least 3,666 people have been killed and 11,321 people injured by Israeli attacks in Lebanon since March 2.

Iran fires missiles, drones, US official confirms

Iran launched multiple missiles and drones following a series of U.S. strikes — but nearly all of them were intercepted, according to initial assessments that are ongoing, according to a U.S. official. There are no reports of harm to any U.S. personnel, and the official was not aware of any damage to U.S. locations in the region at this time.

Earlier Tuesday, officials in Kuwait said air defense systems there were intercepting "hostile aerial targets."

The Iranian barrage came after the U.S. announced a series of strikes on Iran in response to the earlier downing of a U.S. Army helicopter.
