Alleged trespasser stopped by security at Kamala Harris' Malibu home: Sheriff
Neither Harris nor her husband, Doug Emhoff, were at the home.
An alleged trespasser was stopped by private security at a Malibu property belonging to former Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday night, according to local authorities and a Harris spokesperson.
Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were not home at the time, and the person was stopped before reaching the home, according to the spokesperson.
"They are grateful to the security and law enforcement personnel who responded swiftly," the spokesperson said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said deputies were called to the property at about 10:30 p.m. local time Friday for a report of a suspicious person.
"When deputies arrived they made contact with the private security detail on the property," the department said in a statement. "The individual who was outside of the property upon our arrival was warned and advised by deputies to leave the premises and left voluntarily without incident."
No arrest was made.
The sheriff's office said a trespassing report was taken, and deputies will increase patrols in the area as a precaution.
