Trump signs memorandum aiming to tackle far-left domestic terrorism
Trump signed a presidential memorandum directed to tackle what he claimed was a rise in "bad people" and "anarchists" from the left.
Details of the memorandum weren't immediately available, but officials said it would involve increased efforts from the Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of the Treasury.
Trump and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller singled out "Antifa" as one of the groups they were looking to combat.
Antifa is not a group. It is a political philosophy or movement and the term comes from the longer “anti-fascist.” It’s used as a catchall for groups that oppose the concept of authoritarianism, neo-Nazism and white supremacy.
"We're looking at the funders of a lot of these groups," Trump said.
"When you see the signs and they're all beautiful signs made professionally, these are the protesters that make the sign in their basement late in the evening because they really believe that these are anarchists and agitators, professional anarchists and agitators, and they get hired by wealthy people," the president added without evidence.
Trump signs memo directing Bondi, Pirro to seek death penalty in DC
Weeks after calling for the death penalty to be pursued for any murder that takes place in the nation's capital, President Trump on Thursday signed a presidential memorandum directing Attorney General Pam Bondi and U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro to implement the death penalty in Washington "where the evidence and facts of the case indicate that the death penalty should be used."
Though it is unclear what authority Trump and the Justice Department have to seek the death penalty for murders in Washington that are not on federal land or otherwise considered federal crimes, as the city abolished the death penalty in 1981.
Trump blames 'radical left rhetoric' for Dallas shooting
Trump blamed "radical left rhetoric" for the attack on an ICE facility in Dallas, Texas, Wednesday and also warned that "bad things happen when they play these games."
Investigators are still probing the shooting that left one ICE detainee dead but they said that the suspect was targeting ICE agents.
Trump was asked the question of who he blames, and the president was blunt about what he thinks is responsible: "Radical left rhetoric."
"The radical left is causing this problem, not the right, the radical left. And it's going to get worse," he claimed.
"I mean, bad things happen when they play these games. And, I'll give you a little clue, the right is a lot tougher than the left," the president added.

Trump, Vance say TikTok algorithm will be open, run by Americans
President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance were asked about TikTok's algorithm and if it will promote MAGA-related content.
Although Trump said, "if I could, I'd make it 100% MAGA related," he added, "it's not going to work out that way."
"Everyone's going to be treated fairly. Every group, every philosophy, every policy will be treated very fairly," he said.
Vance elaborated.
"What this deal ensures is the American entity, the American investors will actually control the algorithm," he said.
"We want everyone to access this whether they are MAGA or not. We just want this to be fair, we want it to be fair to everybody, and we think this is what's going to happen with this arrangement," Vance added.
